Acteon is the son of god Aristée and of Autonoé. He was brought up by Centaur Chiron and became a very skillful hunter. He is visible on the right side of the low-relief.
According to a popular legend, as he was hunting, Acteon surprised goddess Artemis (Diana) who was bathing, here in the middle. She got furious and turned him into a deer.
