Luzern’s Lion refers to a sculpture erected in Luzern, Switzerland.
Designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and sculpted in 1820-1821 by Lukas Ahorn, it commemorates the deaths of Swiss mercenaries in French King Louis XVI’s service when the royal residence Palais des Tuileries in Paris was assaulted by Revolutionaries in 1792.
That piece is a miniature reproducing the original artwork situated in Luzern.
