This low-relief depicts a richly detailed pastoral scene. The encrustation on mould technique allows the careful guidance of calcite deposits to reproduce every detail with precision. Framed by a border of delicately veined leaves, the composition centers on shepherds roasting an animal on a wood fire, while a man lying on the ground fans the flames to maintain the fire.
The landscape is gently rolling: in the lower left, sheep graze peacefully, while on the right, perched atop a hill, a wolf, drawn by the aroma, observes the trio.
